Full Schedule

Join Baba Teddy and Lady Kate as they tell four tales while mixing the traditional New Orleans favorite Sazerac Cocktail using the original ingredients and share a fifth story about how 'toasting' makes the Cocktail a magical (and traditional) practice of WitchCraft.

In this presentation, you will learn:

  • The myths about what a Sazerac really is and hear about the birth of 'Cocktails' and why they were called 'Voodoo' or 'Indio Medicine'
  • The tale of Melle and Mere Henriod, and why Absinthe is Witchcraft and how it found its way to New Orleans
  • The story of Antoine Amedee Peychaud and how Peychaud's bitters is Voodoo and Witchcraft combined

The truth of the Masons and the Comet of 1812 and how Sazerac got its name completes the recipe! Finally, you will learn how Peychaud's backstabbing Masonic Brothers stole the original recipe by cornering the Sazerac Cognac market and used racism and charges of Witchcraft against Peychaud, one of the first black apothecarists in America. The class will end with a toast that explains why this practice is 'magic' or 'incantation' craft. This original presentation is part history, part mystery, and all true...
