Native-born New Orleanian Kalila Smith has always been intrigued with things that go bump in the night. She grew up in the magical swamplands just outside of New Orleans hearing legends of ghosts, werewolves, and other strange creatures her entire life. For three decades, she has introduced visitors to the dark side of New Orleans with Haunted History Tours, which she personally researched and wrote. She found out early on that there was a demand for paranormal non-fiction which prompted her to publish her research materials used on the tours and in her paranormal class offered at University of New Orleans. She later expanded into other areas of the arcane as well as other cities. Her written works include: New Orleans Ghosts, Voodoo, & Vampires, Tales From The French Quarter, Afterlife Mysteries, Seance Experiments, & Miami's Dark Tales.
Her work in that field of paranormal opened the way for a multitude of documentaries airing on various networks worldwide for over twenty years including Travel Channel, History Channel, Discovery, and the BBC. She has written, directed, and worked as a producer on several documentaries including a local television series, Haunted New Orleans, Journey Into Darkness…The Trilogy, and PBS’ Southern Haunts. She was the only American used on the Sony UK crew working alongside BBC Medium Billy Roberts for the locations and investigations used for the Playstation II game, Ghosthunter.
She has studied under a variety spirituality paths in the US, the UK, and in Brazil. She has been working as a medium for over 25 years and with the paranormal for over 30 years in the US & UK.
