This workshop will take those attending on a journey into a hidden world of magic and the supernatural that few people will ever see or experience. The tradition known as Hoodoo has different manifestations in different regions of the United States. The focus of this presentation will be the southeastern states of North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. We will examine the concepts of hoodoo magic, the actual practices and the supernatural atmosphere that lives within and around it. We will also discuss root doctors, curses, ghosts, as well as the “Boo Hags” and the “Plat-Eyes” with the hope of providing insights to this unique form of magical life.
