To be intoxicated with the gods is to dissolve into their current, to let the multi-layered soul uncoil and dance in its original orbit, its half-remembered home. To fly to the Sabbat is not mere dream or metaphor, but instead entree to that sacred frenzy where microcosmic body and macrocosmic World Soul are one trembling chord, strumming in tune with the All. Historically we took flight through wine and smoke, poisonous herbs and prayer, rhythm and mycelium-laced revelation. We walk a dangerous line between the Puritan who is closed off from true revelation, and the wanton Hedonist who drowns in the waters of experience.
In this class, we descend into the intoxicant-laced theologies of Dionysus, the Sabbat Devil, and other blessed daimons and deathless gods who shatter the dull crust of the world. Together we will court possession and ecstasy, tracing roads of trance, madness, and divine illumination. We'll discuss the roadblocks that hold us waiting at the gates, unable to dive deeper and touch the bottom of the well. And then, we will shatter those gates.
